Fast, High-profile Results Achieved for New Client
January–– A Southern California-based builder had a record revenue year in 2010 and Napolitano Communications is keeping the company’s momentum going in 2011. Just two weeks after being retained by Rialto-based R.C. Construction Services (www.rcconstructionservices.com), Nap Com garnered coverage (and a photo) in Engineering-News Record of R.C.’s new vice president of pre-construction services, Rob Carley. Then just a week later, Nap Com was responsible for a flattering feature story and group photo of R.C. Global Herbal Supplement Firm Chooses Nap Com
December–– Wakunaga of America (www.kyolic.com) is opening a new plant next month in Riverside County, California and wants Napolitano Communications to tell everybody about the big news. Wakunaga has been involved in the research, development, manufacturing and marketing of high-quality nutritional and herbal supplements since 1972.  Its product line includes Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract, Kyo-Dophilus, Kyo-Green, Estro-Logic and Moducare supplements, created to enhance cardiovascular, hormonal, immune and digestive health. Its products are sold in every state and 45 countries.

 

Southern California Builder Selects Nap Com
December––R.C. Construction Services (www.rcconstructionservices.com), one of the fastest-growing builders in Southern California, has chosen Napolitano Communications as its media relations agency. Established in 1994, the Rialto-based contractor reached an all-time high in revenue in 2010 and has called on Nap Com to promote its assets in 2011, including the completion of its largest project ever, the $21-million Inland Empire Transportation Management Center in Fontana to be occupied by Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol.

November––Once again, one of our clients grabbed the lead headline and top spot on the People page of a well-read magazine and Web site. September––Scott Good, a new director of critical facilities for our client, gkkworks (www.gkkworks.com), this month was interviewed for the opinion pages of the popular and highly respected Los Angeles Business Journal. Cal State Fullerton Opens $20-Million Parking Structure
August––
Bomel Construction Co. (www.bomelconstruction.com), the largest concrete contractor in California and a longtime client of Napolitano Communications, has completed its second parking structure for California State University, Fullerton. This is the school’s fourth parking structure. It has 1,500 stalls on six levels. Project features include a concrete spiral staircase and LED lighting throughout. The roof level was outfitted with columns to support the installation of photovoltaic roof panels at a later date. The news has been prominently mentioned in McGraw-Hill’s California Construction, OC Metro and the Orange County Business Journal.

Nap Com Gets Architect in L.A. Business Journal
August––Everybody in L.A. now knows who Edmund Einy of gkkworks (www.gkkworks.com) is. The architect was recently elevated to the College of Fellows by the American Institute of Architects. The accomplishment, widely promoted by Napolitano Communications, prompted the Los Angeles Business Journal (www.labusinessjournal.com) to interview Einy for the weekly publication’s Forum feature. Einy’s comments were published this month. He was also mentioned and photographed this month in the LABJ’s Newsmakers feature.

 

Team Taisei Breaks Ground on Multifamily Project
July––These are not the dog days of summer for Taisei Construction Corp. (www.taisei.com), one of the most active builders in Southern California. The general contractor has started construction on Cuatro Vientos in East Los Angeles. It’s Taisei’s third affordable housing project to break ground this year. Napolitano Communications created the publicity campaign for this project.

June––We have started work for another Southern California-based company, and this firm is in business to help homeowners save money by being more energy-efficient. El Camino College Begins $20.6-Million Project
June––Taisei Construction Corp. (www.taisei.com) has begun construction of another major project on the campus of a California college. Taisei, one of the most active builders in Southern California, has broken ground on the Math, Business and Allied Health Building at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles. Napolitano Communications created the publicity campaign for the $20.6-million project. gkkworks Buys Syska Hennessy's Construction Unit
May––Seeking to further strengthen its position as a leader in the field of integrated project delivery, Irvine, Calif.-based gkkworks (www.gkkworks.com), one of California’s largest architecture and construction services firms, has completed the acquisition of Syska Hennessy Group Construction. The acquired company will retain its Los Angeles base, all 100 employees and multiple offices in the U.S. The expanded company now has total revenues exceeding $300 million, more than 200 employees and a national network of clients in a variety of industries. Napolitano Communications is the media relations agency for the transaction. April––Woodland Hills, Calif.-based Registry Monitoring Insurance Services (www.registrymonitoring.com), turned to Napolitano Communications to evaluate its Web site and recommend areas that can be improved. After an analysis of RMIS objectives, Nap Com replaced various images and specific content to better represent the scope of RMIS services.

 

Nap Com Gets Front-Page Coverage (Again) for Client
April­––We’ve done it again. Our client, Cypress, Calif.-based Taisei Construction Corp. (www.taisei.com), has received front-page news coverage for its largest project. A lengthy story, accompanied by two photos, about the $66-million Performing and Fine Arts Center at East Los Angeles College was on the front page of two newspapers on April 9: the Pasadena Star-News and San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Bomel Begins Parking Structure at Transit Station
March­––The Kings of Concrete have another new project underway. Napolitano Communications client Bomel Construction Co. (www.bomelconstruction.com ), the West’s largest builder of parking structures, has broken ground on a four-level garage for the city of San Bernardino, California. Bomel, one of the largest concrete contractors in the United States, is building the 352-stall facility at the city’s 82-year-old Santa Fe Depot, serviced by Metrolink and Amtrak. News about this project has been published in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin and San Bernardino Sun newspapers and OC Metro, California Construction and Parking magazines.

Kirby Joins Suffolk Construction as VP, Government
February­––One of Southern California’s fastest growing construction companies has made a significant addition to its management team. Our new client, Suffolk Construction Co. (www.suffolkconstruction.com), has hired Andy Kirby as vice president, government. Kirby is based in Suffolk's new San Diego office. He reports to Dave Cavecche, executive vice president, general manager, who is based in Suffolk's western regional office in Irvine, Calif. Suffolk’s corporate headquarters is in Boston. January––A publicity campaign to mark the successful completion of two spectacularly designed buildings––and the largest construction project ever for the Los Angeles Community College District––was created by Nap Com for client Taisei Construction (www.taisei.com). December––Napolitano Communications secured coverage in multiple media outlets this month for its client Taisei Construction (www.taisei.com). The Cypress, Calif.-based general contractor broke ground Dec. 16 on a new building for Wakunaga of America (www.kyolic.com), an herbal medicine manufacturer. The event was held in the Riverside County community of Mira Loma. It was covered in the online and print editions of the California Real Estate Journal, Orange County Register, Riverside Press-Enterprise, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, San Bernardino Sun, OC Metro and The Business Press.

 

Bomel Construction’s Critical Role in the $8.5-Billion CityCenter in Las Vegas Covered by Orange County Media
December––Anaheim Hills, Calif.-based Bomel Construction’s (www.bomelconstruction.com) huge hand in the erection of the 47-story Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Las Vegas was covered by the online and print editions of the Orange County Register and OC Metro. Bomel built the luxurious hotel’s concrete tower––its tallest project ever––and was the concrete contractor for a number of other buildings at the $8.5-billion CityCenter, the largest private development ever built in the United States.

Taisei Vice President Named a Judge in McGraw-Hill’s Prestigious Construction Awards
September––Peter Tuma, vice president of construction for Cypress, Calif.-based Taisei Construction Co., (www.taisei.com) has been selected as a judge in McGraw-Hill’s California Construction magazine’s year-end Best of 2009 awards program. Taisei is one of the largest general building contractors in California and Hawaii. Napolitano Communications sold the magazine on the merits of having an industry expert like Tuma on the judging panel.

 

Bomel Construction in San Fernando Valley Business Journal
September––Bomel Construction Co., (www.bomelconstruction.com) one of the largest concrete contractors in the West, has received media coverage for its major stake in the construction of the third phase of NoHo Commons. Bomel built the multi-level parking structure and was the concrete contractor for the nine-story office building.

November––Most clients are very pleased when a feature story exclusively about them appears in a major daily newspaper. How about a story in three newspapers on the same day? A feature story about Chet Salit, the new director of architecture and engineering operations for Napolitano Communications client gkkworks (www.gkkworks.com), was published on the same day on the business page and Web sites of the Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune and Whittier Daily News. Bomel Completes City of Irvine’s First Parking Structure
August––Napolitano Communications client Bomel Construction Co. (www.bomelconstruction.com) once again completed a large parking structure several weeks ahead of schedule. The 1,500-space facility owned by the city of Irvine will serve about 3,000 daily Amtrak and Metrolink commuters. It replaces 435 surface parking spaces. The project also won a prestigious award from the American Public Works Association. Anaheim Hills, Calif.-based Bomel Construction is the West’ leading design/builder of parking structures and a concrete contractor for large-scale projects serving casinos, colleges, hotels, office complexes, schools, shopping malls, stadiums and universities.

July––Just one month after being selected as its media relations and advertising agency, Napolitano Communications got client Taisei Construction Corp. Peter Tuma, Taisei’s vice president of construction/private works, was extensively quoted in the story.

July––Minutes after a powerful earthquake struck the Inland Empire of Southern California around 11:30 in the morning, Napolitano Communications contacted local editors to let them know that one of its clients with a construction project at Ground Zero would be willing to be interviewed. Less than an hour later, Rob Good, a gkkworks (www.gkkworks.com) project manager for the Vellano Country Club in Chino Hills, was on the phone with a reporter and was quoted first in a lengthy front-page and online story about the 5.4 Chino Hills earthquake. Good discussed how seismic engineering played a significant role in avoiding damage to existing buildings and a three-level clubhouse under construction. The story further strengthened gkkworks’ reputation as an excellent architecture and construction services firm. Taisei’s high-profile projects include an $80-million student services center for Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, the extensive Mark Taper Forum renovation, the new SLS Hotel and the $70-million East Los Angeles College Performing and Fine Arts Center, all in Los Angeles, Taisei is also building a 250,000-sq.-ft. mushroom growing, processing, packaging and distribution facility in San Diego County.

 

Reconstruction Issues Facing the Historic Auditorium at Garfield High School Featured in the Los Angeles Times
May––The complex process of re-designing and re-building the historic auditorium at Garfield High School in Los Angeles after it was set afire and badly damaged last year was the subject of a story in the Los Angeles Times. gkkworks (www.gkkworks.com), a Napolitano Communications client, was identified as architect of record in the story. Construction of the new auditorium is expected to begin next year. Total readership is about 2 million.

 

Liz Novak Profiled, Pictured in The Business Press
May––Elizabeth Novak, an up-and-coming project engineer with gkkworks (www.gkkworks.com), was extensively profiled and pictured in a lengthy story in The Business Press, a well-read weekly publication circulated in the Inland Empire of Southern California. University of Southern California Chooses Nap Com
June––The College of Letters, Arts & Sciences at the University of Southern California (www.college.usc.edu) in Los Angeles has selected Napolitano Communications to provide copyediting services for its alumni magazine. Paul Napolitano established Napolitano Communications in 1993 as a full-service marketing agency after a successful stint as promotion director for the Los Angeles Times. He helped the publication become the largest circulated daily newspaper in the United States. In his distinguished journalism career, Paul Napolitano has written for the Los Angeles Times and other major daily newspapers in Southern California.
